Urban Design Guidelines

The City-Wide Urban Design Guidelines (UDG) were endorsed by Council in December 2025. The document provides a framework to guide the planning, design, and development of Brampton's neighbourhoods, corridors, centres, and public spaces.

Supporting the vision and policies of the Brampton Plan and in coordination with the City's Zoning By-law, the UDG sets out urban design expectations for new development and redevelopment across the city.

The Guidelines are intended to be a living document and may be updated periodically to reflect evolving best practices and city-building priorities.

The three parts of the Guidelines are available at the links below:

Part A: Introduction

Part A outlines core design principles, links to City of Brampton policies, and offers practical guidance.

Part B: Sustainable Community Design

Part B Focuses on larger-scale planning, addressing streets, parks, and natural systems to support sustainable communities.

Part C: Site Organization and Built Form
