Brampton is Ontario’s 4th largest city and the 9th largest in the country with a population of nearly 700,000. It’s the fastest growing of Canada’s 25 largest cities and one of the youngest.

Brampton has experienced unprecedented growth since the year 2000, with a population growing five times faster than the Province of Ontario and at four times the pace of the national average.

Balancing that level of growth with public expectations is both a challenge and an opportunity.

The City of Brampton is constantly looking for ways to strengthen its partnership with the Regional, Provincial and Federal governments to advance projects that will have a long-lasting economic impact, creating well-paying jobs, and improving community pride and the quality of life for our residents.

The City’s Government Relations Division has sharpened its focus on advancing many priorities including these key areas:

  • Health Care: New 2nd hospital & Cancer Care Centre
  • Attainable Housing & Growth Management
  • Higher-Order Transit: Regional Connectivity & Community Building
  • Expanding Our Active Transportation Network
  • Riverwalk & Transforming Downtown Brampton
  • Economic Development & Innovation
  • Climate Action
  • Community Safety
  • Municipal Fiscal Sustainability

The City also works closely with organizations such as the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) and the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) to advance municipal priorities with the Provincial and Federal governments.
