Frequently Asked Questions

Brampton Recreation offers Skiing and Snowboarding instruction for children and adults from ages 3 and up. Participants progress through various levels. Programs should be chosen based on ability level at the start of the season. Participants must be program age at start of lesson.

Snow Tubing FAQ

What type of clothing is required for skiing, snowboarding or tubing?: We recommend wearing warm layers for the most enjoyable outdoor experience. Consider a waterproof winter jacket and snow pants with layers of comfortable athletic clothing underneath and warm socks. Mittens or gloves, a ski or snowboard helmet and goggles are recommended. Please note: clothing and accessories are not available for rent.
Are snow tubes provided?: Yes, snow tubes are provided. Toboggans and tubes brought from home are not permitted. Helmets are not mandatory to snow tube, however we recommend that all participants wear a helmet. Helmet rentals are available at the Pro Shop at the Chinguacousy Park Ski Chalet.
How do I book a group for snow tubing?: For group bookings please contact our Recreation Programmer at 905-458-6555 ext. 63725.
Are helmets available for rent?: Yes, helmets are available for rent at the Pro Shop at the Chinguacousy Park Ski Chalet. Equipment rentals require a phone number, valid government issued photo ID and a completed rental waiver agreement.
What is the refund policy for lift tickets, rentals or snow tubing tickets?: All lift tickets and rentals are non-refundable.
Can I purchase snow tubing lift tickets in advance?: Snow tubing tickets can be purchased in advance during operational hours at the Chinguacousy Park Ski Chalet
What are the height and weight requirements to snow tube?: The minimum height requirement to participate in snow tubing is 42" inches, the maximum weight is 250 lbs.

Ski & Snowboard FAQ

Are ski and snowboard equipment rentals available?: Yes, ski and snowboard equipment is available for rent. Rentals require a phone number, valid government issued photo ID and a completed rental waiver agreement. Participants under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian assist with the rental process.
Are ski and snowboard tuning services offered?: Yes, the rental shop is equipped to provide tuning services at an additional cost. Keeping equipment waxed and sharpened will extend the life, provide better performance and help improve skills. The rental shop also sells a selection of goggles, ski locks, snowboard leashes, socks, stomp pads and snowboard binding parts.
Is there daily storage available for ski and snowboard equipment?: Personal ski and snowboard equipment must be stored in the provided racks outside the chalet as equipment is not permitted inside. Universal ski locks are highly recommended and available to purchase in the rental shop. Personal belonging storage is not available. Please leave personal belongings in your vehicle as we are not responsible for lost or stolen equipment/belongings.

Lessons FAQ

What happens if a participant does not meet the ski/snowboard program abilities?: To ensure participant success within the program, we highly suggest taking a private lesson before resuming program lessons.
What happens if participants miss a lesson?: Make-up classes, compensation or rescheduling will not be available due to participant illness, weather or personal emergency. To ensure participant success within the program, we highly suggest taking a private lesson before resuming program lessons.
Are registrations accepted for 8-week programs after the start date?: Late registrations are assessed on a case by case basis. Participants must meet the minimum ability level to safely join lessons. Please contact our Recreation Programmer to discuss options at 905-458-6555 ext 63725.
What can participants expect from a lesson?: Lessons include one hour of instruction and one hour of practice time on their own. Practice time is scheduled after the instructional portion has concluded.
Are parents or guardians required to remain onsite for the duration of the lesson?: Yes, a parent or guardian must be easily accessible for the entire duration of the program onsite.
What is the lesson withdrawal policy?: A withdrawal request must be received prior to the third class. A pro-rated fee will be applied, based on number of classes passed, as either a credit on account or refunded to original payment method. Are refunds provided if ski or snowboard equipment rentals are no longer required?: Withdrawal requests must be submitted prior to the second class. For more information on our withdrawal policy, please click here.
Do programs still run if it is snowing/raining?: Yes, programs will run in all weather conditions including while it is snowing, rain, sleet and wind. Our priority is participant safety while delivering quality lessons. If lessons are cancelled due to extreme weather conditions, participants will be notified and alternate arrangements will be made for lost program time at the end of the session.
