Sign Permits

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The City of Brampton places a high value on the community’s appearance and safety. To maintain an attractive appearance and ensure a safe environment, the City regulates signs to avoid visual clutter and ensure traffic and pedestrian safety.

When Do You Need a Sign Permit?

​​Y​ou need a sign permit if you are planning to:

  • ​Install a new sig​n (ground, wall, roof, or mobile)
  • Replace an existing sign with one that is different in size or design
  • Put up a temporary sign (banners, development signs, real estate signs)

Befor​e​​ You Apply​

  • ​​Check the Sign By-law to make sure your sign follows the City's regulations.
  • Get permission from the property owner or landlord.
  • Prepare drawings​ showing dimensions

How to ​​Apply

​Apply online through the Brampton Building an​​d Business Portal. You will need to submit:

  • ​​Completed application form
  • Sign drawings and specifications
  • Site plan or survey​
  • Fee payment

After Y​​ou Ap​ply

Once your permit is approved:

  • ​​​​Display your permit on-site in a visible location
  • Call for inspections​ if required (e.g., footing inspection for ground signs).​​
