Brampton entrepreneur scores at Dragons’ Den

Founder of fashion brand “Love & Nudes” secure $40K in seed funding.

BRAMPTON, ON (March 1, 2019) – Following a successful pitch to CBC’s Dragons’ Den yesterday, Chantal Carter Taylor, Founder of Brampton-based fashion line Love & Nudes, secured $40,000 in seed funding in exchange for a 40 per cent stake in her company.

Taylor, who first approached the Brampton Entrepreneur Centre (BEC) in 2016 for support in developing her business model, was featured on the reality show that aired Canada-wide on Thursday February 28, 2019.

Presenting her business to the panel of venture capitalists (the “Dragons”), she outlined the reasons that led her to establish Love & Nudes in 2017 and spoke about her plans to scale up her business.

Taylor's compelling pitch, and strong business proposition and model, captured the attention of the Dragons. Love & Nudes provides underwear options to meet the demands of women with darker skin – almost two-thirds of the world’s female population - options that were previously almost non-existent.

She also touched on her company’s mission to empower women of colour. All Love & Nudes garments are made in a women-owned, fair-wage facility that employs single mothers in Colombia.

Speaking earlier to Client Spotlight, BEC’s online channel that highlights local entrepreneurial success stories, Taylor said: “BEC’s advisors gave me a lot of guidance in registering my business, preparing my marketing strategy, and making connections with the right people and organizations. BEC events were another great way to learn and connect – I’ve listened to some awesome business advice from speakers, and received a ton of inspiration from fellow entrepreneurs and their business stories.”

BEC runs events throughout the year to support businesses and connect entrepreneurs. It also offers individual consultations and advice, and is the access point for funding and programs to support startups and established businesses. Visit www.brampton.ca/bec for more information.
