​​The Building Division is introducing new features to the Building and Business Portal and launching an Inspection Recall Fee for Additional Residential Unit (ARU) permits.

Users will benefit from new features designed to improve efficiency and accessibility, including:
  • Ability to submit Portable Sign permit applications
  • Guest access for booking inspections
  • Enhanced functionality to respond to reviews​​​

New Inspection Recall Fee for Additional Rental Unit Permits

A new Inspection Recall Fee will be implemented for ARU-related permits including two-unit dwellings, three-unit dwellings and garden suites.

If an inspection does not pass on two separate occasions, a fee of $115.16 will be charged and must be paid before booking any following inspections. The fees are intended to encourage inspection readiness and reduce repeat visits.

This fee will be automatically applied through the portal starting July 21, 2025. ​​
