Senior ID Card Application

Effective Tuesday, September 6, 2022, Brampton Transit will be reinstating the $5.00 fee for a replacement Brampton Transit Senior ID card.

If you have misplaced your Brampton Transit Senior ID card, please visit one of the following locations:

Bramalea Terminal - 160 Central Park Drive
Clark Facility - 185 Clark Boulevard
Sandalwood Facility - 130 Sandalwood Parkway West

Card Requirements

Attachment One: Proof of Brampton Address

Documentation must be dated within the past 6 months

Driver’s license/Ontario Photo ID Card
Household bill (telephone, TV, hydro, gas or water)
Bank/credit card statement
Statement of government benefits (employment insurance, old age security, social assistance or disability support)
Property tax bill
Revenue Canada Notice of Assessment

Attachment Two: Proof of Identity

One piece of valid government-issued identification that includes a photograph, name, and date of birth must be presented. Acceptable forms include:

Driver’s License/Ontario Photo ID Card
Passport
Permanent Resident Card
Provincial Health Card (red/white version is not acceptable)
Birth Certificate (only if presented with a valid piece of photo ID)

Attachment Three: Photo

Please upload a photo of yourself to be used on your Brampton Transit veteran card. Please keep the following in mind when taking your photo.

Stand in front of a blank wall with no patterns or photos behind you
Remove your glasses
The focus of your image should be of your face from the shoulders up
The photo must be in colour

Please note: The original digital file of your photo must be uploaded for your identification card. If a picture of a photo is uploaded the application may not be accepted.

Attachment Four: Proof of veteran status as defined by Veteran Affairs Canada

A Veteran is defined as “Any former member of the Canadian Armed Forces who successfully underwent basic training and is honourably released”. This includes Officers & Non-Commissioned Members.

Proof of service as a former member of the Canadian Armed Forces who successfully underwent basic training and is honourably released includes:

Certificate of service
Discharge papers
Letter from regiment Commander
Veteran’s Service Card (showing a “Veteran” status)
CFI Card (showing a “Veteran” status)

The personal information on this form is collected under the authority of the Municipal Act S.O. 2001, c.25. The information will be used to process Brampton Transit senior identification card requests and will be kept on file for a period of two weeks for processing. Use of Senior ID Card

The card is non-transferable. It can only be used by the person whose name and photo appear on the card.
The card is valid for travel on regularly scheduled Brampton Transit services.
Upon boarding, clearly display your Senior ID card to the Operator and tap your PRESTO card loaded with the free annual pass.
If you do not have a Senior ID card and a PRESTO card loaded with the free annual pass, you will be required to pay the cash fare.
The card is the property of Brampton Transit and may be revoked at any time at Brampton Transit’s discretion.
The card must not be reproduced or altered and any improper use may result in prosecution.

Replacement of Lost Cards

When you apply for a Brampton Transit Senior ID card, you accept responsibility for the use of the card.

There will be a $5.00 charge and proof of Brampton address within the last 6 months is required to obtain a replacement Brampton Transit Senior ID card.

If you have misplaced your Brampton Transit Senior ID card, please visit one of the following locations:

If you have misplaced your Brampton Transit Senior ID card and it is due to expire within 4 weeks, please use the online renewal application and your card will be mailed to you or visit one of the locations listed above.

Eligibility Requirements

An applicant must show proof that s/he lives in Brampton and is 65 years of age or older.

One piece of documentation from each of the following sections must be presented and the documents must be dated within the past six months.

General Policy Statement

The Brampton Transit Senior ID card is open to any Brampton resident over the age of 65.
This program is subject to change upon Brampton Council approval.
