Creating a User Account on the Brampton Building Portal – FAQs

If you had already submitted building permits to the City of Brampton Building Division prior to the portal launch date of June 24, 2024, you will need to connect to your existing account so that you can make payments for your current permits, book inspections and conduct other business with the Brampton Building Division.

  1. To connect to your existing account, visit this web page: https://bramptonbbp.brampton.ca/citizenportal/app/login
  2. Click the Forgot Password? link.
  3. Enter your email address in the screen provided and then click the Reset Password button.
  4. You will receive an email from the City of Brampton Public Portal. Copy the PIN number in the body of the email.
  5. Click the Change Password link in the body of the email.
  6. In the screen that appears, enter the PIN number and then click the Verify PIN button.
  7. You will then be prompted to set your password. Click the Submit button to save your new password.
  8. You can now log in to the new Brampton Building and Business Portal.
  9. The first time you log into the portal, you will be prompted to give us your most up-to-date information for your profile. If you are a new Home Builder, select New Home Builders Only. If you are any other type of applicant, select Others.
  10. Click the Update Profile button to complete the process. You should be able to see your existing permits on the home page.

If you have not conducted business with the City of Brampton in the past, you can create a new user account.

  1. Visit this web page: https://bramptonbbp.brampton.ca/citizenportal/app/login.
  2. Click the Create an Account button.
  3. For the applicant type, you can select Home Builder Only radio button if you a new home builder in Brampton.
  4. If you are a homeowner, contractor or designer, pick the Others radio button.
  5. Fill out the required personal information and click the Submit button.
  6. If you are a contractor or designer, you will want to fill in the Organization Name field. The Organization Name field is optional for homeowners.
  7. You will receive an email to your inbox.
  8. Click the link in the body of the email to open the portal.
  9. Copy the PIN number provided in the PIN field and click the Verify PIN button.
  10. You will then be prompted to set your password and click the Submit button.

If you already have a user account, visit this web page: https://bramptonbbp.brampton.ca/citizenportal/app/login. Enter your email address and password and then click the Submit button.

You can use the Forgot Password link to reset your password.

  1. Visit this web page: https://bramptonbbp.brampton.ca/citizenportal/app/login. Click on the Forgot Password? link.
  2. Enter your email address in the screen provided and then click the Reset Password button.
  3. You will receive an email from the City of Brampton Public Portal. Copy the PIN number in the body of the email.
  4. Click the Change Password link in the body of the email.
  5. In the screen that appears, enter the PIN number and then click the Verify PIN button.
  6. You will then be prompted to set your password. Click the Submit button to save your new password.
  7. You can now log in to the new Brampton Building and Business Portal.

Passwords must contain at least 12 characters and characters from three of the following categories:

  • At least one uppercase letter
  • At least one lowercase letter
  • At least one number
  • At least one special character (e.g. !; @; #; $; %)​

Yes. A guest log in option is available to customers who want to purchase property records and/or surveys. Visit this web page: https://bramptonbbp.brampton.ca/citizenportal/app/landing.

  1. Click the Go to Non-Registered Services button.
  2. Click the Make a Request button to be able to make a submission to request records.
  3. Once we contact you if we have records on file, follow steps 1 and 2 above and then click the Guest Log In link along the top of the screen to be able to log in with your email address and the Reference ID number that we provide.
  4. Click the Search​ button to find your pending requests and make payment.

  1. Click on the Non-Registered Services button.
  2. Click the Make a Request button.
  3. You will be brought to the "Request a Document from the City of Brampton's Building Division" page.
  4. At the top of the page, click on Guest Log In​. ​​​

​You can only add a contractor to applied or issued permits.

  1. ​Log into your Brampton Building & Business Portal account​.
  2. Click on the Building Services button.
  3. Click on the Detail button beside the permit you would like to add the contractor to.
  4. The Permit Details will come up, click on the People Details tab.
  5. Click on the Add Contractor button.
  6. It will bring you to the bottom of the screen where you will enter the contractor's email address in the Email Address box. The email address must be associated with a registered user account.
  7. Click Submit.
  8. You will now see the contractor listed in the People Details​.

  1. Log into your Brampton Building & Business Portal​ account.
  2. ​​Click on the Building Services button.
  3. ​Click on the Detail button beside the permit you would like to add the contractor to.
  4. ​The Permit Details will come up, click on the People Details tab.
  5. Click on the Remove button beside the contractor you want to remove.
  6. Use the F5 key on your keyboard to refresh the web page and the contractor will no longer appear.
  7. You will now no longer see the contractor listed in the People Details.

​From the landing page - www.brampton.ca/bbportal, click on the Non-Registered Services button.

  1. Click on the Book an Inspection button.
  2. You will need to enter the Permit Number with the exact format requested, spaces included. ​
  3. Example: 2025 123456 000 00 RS​​

  4. Then enter in the Authorization Key provided to you by the applicant or owner and click the Search button.
  5. The permit will appear at the bottom of the screen, click on the Detail button. 
  6. The permit details will now appear. Click the Process button.
  7. Now all the outstanding inspections that need to be completed will appear.
  8. Click on the Inspection button beside the inspection you would like to schedule.
  9. On the next screen you will need to enter the inspection date, attendee information and requester email. 
  10. Click Submit.
  11. It will take you back to the Process Details and it will now show that your inspection has been scheduled and the date the inspection is scheduled for. The inspector’s name and phone number will appear after 5pm the same business day.

Yes, if you are identified as an owner on a permit, and your email address matches our records, your account will be marked as Pending Portal Registration until you use the Forgot Password link to register.

Every production homebuilder will need to have at least two user accounts – one Homebuilder user account and one Builder Member account.

The Homebuilder user account will be able to add Builder Members, pay fees, and book inspections, but they cannot make new permit application submissions.

The Builder Member account can pay fees, book inspections and make new application submissions, but can only see the submissions that they made. If you need assistance with setting up accounts, contact building.inquiries@brampton.ca.​

No, you do not need to be a resident of Brampton to create a portal account.
