Important and Commemorative Dates

Page Banner

Brampton’s Important and Commemorative Dates listing highlights key cultural, heritage, and community observances recognized throughout the year. As part of the City’s Community Recognition Program, these dates reflect Brampton’s rich diversity and ensure meaningful, consistent, and equitable acknowledgement of cultures, histories, and moments of significance.

Each year, staff review demographic data, provincial and federal heritage observances, and community feedback to develop the annual listing. These dates (excluding statutory holidays) are recognized through various opportunities, which may include proclamations, clock tower lightings, half-mastings, transit messaging, digital recreation signage, and social media.

These observances are recognized through both corporate-led initiatives and community-driven requests, helping to foster civic pride and ensure that important cultural and commemorative moments are acknowledged across the City.
