New Licensing Requirements Now in Effect
To help protect public health and enhance community safety, the City of Brampton has introduced new licensing requirements for peddlers – individuals who sell goods such as fruit, flags or other merchandise while walking through public spaces or operating temporary stands.
Operate your mobile or stationary goods business legally
If you sell goods by moving from one place to another place or from a designated location on private property (not a brick‑and‑mortar store), you may be considered a peddler under the City of Brampton’s Mobile Licensing By‑Law and require a Peddler licence.
A Peddler licence helps ensure your business operates safely, legally and in compliance with zoning and public‑space regulations. This licence applies to anyone selling merchandise, wares, crops or services from an approved area.

Who requires a peddler licence?
You must obtain a licence if you:
- travel from place to place supplying goods
- operate from a stationary location on private property
- use a motor vehicle as part of your business to sell to the public
- provide goods directly to customers at the point of sale
Exemption: Peddlers operating at a City‑sponsored special event.
