We all have a role to play in keeping our children and community safe.Do your partSlow down in school zones and residential areas.Stay alert and distraction free – always be prepared to stop.Stop for crossing guards – it’s the law. When their stop sign is raised, drivers must stop and remain stopped until the pedestrian and crossing guard have cleared the roadway. Stop for school buses – drivers in both directions must stop if there’s no median separating the road. Obey all traffic signs and signals. Walk or bike to school to reduce traffic. Engage with the Brampton School Traffic Safety Council. Remember these rules when driving and parking near schoolsAlways look for signs that indicate specific restrictions for stopping or parking.Do not block hydrants, fire routes or traffic.No parking longer than 3 hours (unless you have a permit).No street parking between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. Stopping for School BusesFailing to stop for school buses is illegal and puts children at risk.
