Enhancements will include new lockers, partitions, mechanical and plumbing. A full resurfacing of the walking track is also being completed. Additionally, work is being done to replace existing pool boilers with new energy efficient boilers. On the exterior, select building envelope repairs will be completed along with parking lot repairs, a lighting update, and sidewalk repairs. Originally anticipated for 2020, renovations were impacted by COVID-19 work stoppages throughout 2020-21. Additionally, the Chinguacousy Wellness Centre hosted a COVID-19 vaccination clinic between January 11 – May 14, 2021, causing a further suspension to the renovation project. The Chinguacousy Wellness Centre will remain closed for the duration of the renovation. Expected reopening of the fieldhouse is Summer 2022. The facility will reopen on October 3, 2022 for registered and drop-in programming. The swimming pool will remain temporarily closed due to a mechanical issue. Anticipated completion of the pool is early Winter 2022. Renovation FAQs What is the scope of work?Enhancements to the men’s and women’s fitness change rooms, including an entirely renovated change room with an increased number of washroom fixtures, urinals, sinks and showers, bathing suit spinners, vanity areas, new lockers, information monitors, and improved access control from the fitness change rooms to the pool. A complete renovation of the pool family change room area, including partitions, floor, mechanical alteration, and plumbing. Replacement of the existing pool boilers with new energy efficient boilers. Selected building repairs, including siding repairs, complete re-caulking of all openings, and masonry repairs. Exterior work includes selective asphalt replacement, LED site lighting upgrades, grading adjustments on the east side of the building and selective concrete sidewalk repairs.
