Pet Adoption Process

Animal Services always has a variety of pets looking for homes. You may visit animals at the shelter during our adoption viewing hours, ask staff about pet ownership responsibilities, and the needs of a new pet. Alternatively, you can view adoptable pets on our website..

If there is a particular pet you are interested in adopting you will need to fill out a short questionnaire. These can be filled out in person during our adoption viewing hours or can be completed at home using the links below under Adoption Forms and emailed to animal.services@brampton.ca for one of our staff members to contact you.

After your questionnaire is approved there are some steps required prior to bringing the new pet home.

  • If you submitted your adoption form online, there will be a visit arranged by staff too allow you to interact with the animal outside of its kennel.
  • You will be required to provide valid government issued identification with proof of your current address.
  • All residents of your household will be required to meet the animal.
  • If it is a dog you are looking to adopt, any current household dogs will be required to have a meet and greet session with the prospective dog.

Once all the required steps are completed the new pet will be ready to go home and start it’s new journey in life. This can happen on the same day if you come ready.

Please note we are unable to place holds on potential new pets.
