The Black Empowerment Unit is working alongside the Black community in Brampton to create meaningful opportunities for individuals, families and businesses. Through targeted support, partnerships and programming, we’re laying the foundation for a more inclusive, connected and economically thriving city.

What We Do

We deliver programs that focus on:

  • Financial education for entrepreneurs and startups.
  • Access to capital through grants, loans, and funding opportunities.
  • Business legal literacy to help entrepreneurs navigate policies and frameworks.
  • Networking events to foster collaboration and mentorship.
  • Innovation support to turn great ideas into sustainable ventures.

We collaborate with:

  • Job recruitment agencies for employment pathways.
  • Black business ecosystems across Canada and internationally.
  • Government partners and funders to unlock economic potential.
  • Financial institutions to improve financial literacy and credit access.

Our Goals

We believe in a multi-dimensional approach engaging not only community members, but also city staff, corporate partners, and government agencies to co-create systems of support.
