Election Worker FAQs

We will begin accepting election worker applications on Monday, June 8. You may submit an application by applying online​.

There are several election worker positions: 
  • ​​Location Supervisor
  • Assistant Location Supervisor
  • Deputy Returning Officer (DRO)
  • Tabulator Attendant
  • Accessible Unit Attendant
  • Greeter​

Compensation varies depending on the position. A full listing of positions​ with their rates of pay can be found online.

The rate includes pay for attending training. ​​​Election workers who attend training, but do not fulfill their work assignment, will not be paid. 

Election workers must be 16 years of age or older at the time of application to be a Greeter, and 18 years old at the time of application for all other positions.​

Applications can be submitted by completing the Election Worker Job Application​.

You can submit a paper application, available at City Hall with the City Clerk's Office. Applications can be submitted during regular business hours (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).

This election, there is a virtual component to the election worker training - computer access is required to complete the training.​

We are looking for individuals with excellent customer service and computer skills. Previous election experience is preferred.

Yes! Training is provided and is mandatory to work the election. ​Election workers who do not attend training, will be removed from their work assignment.  ​

There is an in-person and virtual training component for most positions; training for the Greeter position is exclusively virtual.

Previous experience is preferred, however you will be trained for your role.

Yes, training is mandatory for all workers, experienced or not. There are always changes to processes and upgrades with technology.

Election workers are required to work from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. (approximately 14 hours) on Voting Day.

​You will be contacted by early September if you have been hired to work the election.

​Election workers will be paid approximately eight (8) weeks after Voting Day.

​Election workers are required to remain at the voting location for the full day. Please come prepared with your own meals, snacks and drinks. Short breaks to eat are permitted during quiet times.​​

T4A slips will be issued to election workers who earn more than $500.​​​

P​arking and transit arrangements vary by voting location. When free parking is available, workers will be advised in advance. Transit costs and parking expenses are not reimbursed.​
