Advance Voting Days: Saturd​ay, October 10 (8 a.m. to 7 p.m.) & Sunday, October 11 (8 a.m. to 7 p.m.) ​​​​or Friday, October 16 (10 a.m. to 10 p.m.) & Saturday, October 17 (8 a.m. to 7 p.m.)​​

Voting Day: Monday, October 26 (8 a.m. to 10 p.m.)

Compensation:​

$1,242 - $1,266flat-rat​e​ payment (includes hours worked on Voting Day, participation in one pairing of advance voting days, training and other duties prior to Voting Day)


​​Reporting to the designated Ward Manager, the Location Supervisor is responsible for the orderly conduct of voting at a voting location in accordance with the ​Municipal Elections Act, 1996 and City election policies and procedures. Ensures all voters who are entitled to vote may do ​so and handles all situations that arise. Manages all activity and staff assigned to a voting location.​​

Key Responsibilities:

Prior to Voting Day:

  • Attend mandatory training session and review all training material prior to working
  • Pick up ballots, vote tabulator, laptops and other supplies from the Election Office or designated location prior to Voting Day
  • Participate in one pairing of advance voting days as a Deputy Returning Officer (DRO) or other election ​position, as needed
  • Become familiar with voting location

Voting Day:

  • Arrive at the voting location by 8 a.m. on Voting Day
  • Manage set-up of the voting location and ensure it opens at 10 a.m.
  • Issue bundles of ballots to DROs, as required
  • Sign-in scrutineers, administer appropriate oaths and monitor scrutineer activities
  • Advise Ward Manager if assistance is required (i.e. support, staffing, supplies, furniture, etc.)
  • Provide hourly updates to Ward Manager regarding voter stats, issues, traffic flow, etc.
  • Close the voting location at 8 p.m. and complete closing procedures including assisting DROs with balancing, transmission of results to the Election Office and completion of worker evaluations
  • Return all documents, supplies and equipment to designated location after close of voting

Work Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age on or before time of application
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
  • Must possess a valid driver’s licence with access to a vehicle on Voting Day
  • Must have use of a cell phone to communicate with the Ward Manager and/or Election Office on Voting Day (must be willing to download and use Microsoft Teams application to receive information from Election Office)
  • Must be able to lift and carry the vote tabulator and voting location supply bag (40-50 lbs.)
  • Must not be:
    • A candidate or registered third party advertiser;
    • An immediate family member of a candidate; or,
    • Actively working in support of or opposition to a candidate in the Brampton Municipal Election

  • Excellent problem solving and conflict resolution skills with the ability to identify solutions and manage competing stakeholder needs

Job Title:

Assistant Location Supervisor

Time Commitment:

Prior to Voting Day: Position training and material review - approximately 3 hours​

Advance Voting Days: Saturday, October 10 (8 a.m. to 7 p.m.) & Sunday, October 11 (8 a.m. to 7 p.m.) or Friday, October 16 (10 a.m. to 10 p.m.) &​​​​​ Saturday, Octob​er 17 (8 a.m. to 7 p.m.)

Voting Day: Monday, October 26 (8 a.m. to 10 p.m.)

Compensation:

$1,157 - $1,181 flat-rate payment (includes hours worked on Voting Day, participation in one pairing of advance voting days, training and other duties prior to Voting Day)


​​Reporting to the Location Supervisor, the Assistant Location Supervisor is responsible for the orderly conduct of voting at a voting location in accordance with the ​Municipal Elections Act, 1996 and City election policies and procedures. Ensures all voters who are entitled to vote may do so and handles all situations that arise. Assists Location Supervisor with managing all activity and staff assigned to a voting location.​​

Key Responsibilities:

Prior to Voting Day:

  • Attend mandatory training session and review all training material prior to working
  • Assist Location Supervisor with picking up ballots, vote tabulator, laptops and other supplies from the Election Office or designated location prior to Voting Day
  • Participate in one pairing of advance voting days as a Deputy Returning Officer (DRO) or other election position, as needed
  • Become familiar with voting location

Voting Day:

  • Arrive at the voting location by 8 a.m. on Voting Day
  • Assist with set-up of the voting location and ensure it opens at 10 a.m.

Deputy Returning Officer (DRO)

Time Commitment:

Prior to Voting Day: Position training and material review - approximately 3 hours​

Voting Day: Monday, October 26 (8 a.m. to 10 p.m.)

Compensation:

$408 flat-rate payment (includes hours worked on ​Voting Day, training and other duties prior to Voting Day)


​Reporting to the Location Supervisor, ​the DRO is responsible for the processing of voters in accordance with the Municipal Elections Act, 1996​, and City election policies and procedures.​

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend mandatory training session and review all training material prior to working
  • Arrive at the voting location by 8 a.m. on Voting Day
  • Assist with set-up of the voting location and ensure it opens at 10 a.m.
  • Receive and check all supplies received from Supervisor (i.e. blank ballots, voting record, envelopes, etc.)
  • Advise Supervisor if assistance is required (i.e. support, staffing, supplies, furniture)
  • Process voters - conducting electronic check-in, verify identification, retrieve, initial and issue appropriate ballot, maintain count of total voters
  • Provide information to voters regarding ballot completion
  • Direct voters to appropriate voting station
  • Print ExpressVote ballots for accessible voting unit, if applicable
  • Handle proxy votes and Proxy Voter Certificates, as required
  • Process Application to Amend the Voters’ List forms, as required
  • Process cancelled and declined ballots, as required
  • Administer oaths, as required
  • At the discretion of the Supervisor, provide support to other DROs and election workers in a roving capacity, as needed
  • Assist with the closing of the voting location at 8 p.m. and complete closing procedures including final tally and balancing of ballots

Job Title:

Tabulator Attendant

Time Commitment:

Prior to Voting Day: Position training and material review - approximately 2 hours​

Voting Day: Monday, October 26 (8 a.m. to 10 p.m.)

Compensation:

$304 flat-rate payment (includes hours worked on Voting Day, and training and other duties prior to Voting Day)


​Reporting to the Location Supervisor, the Tabulator Attendant is responsible for the operation of the vote tabulator and processing ballots through the vote tabulator ensuring the secrecy of the vote.​

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend mandatory training session and review all training material prior to working
  • Arrive at the voting location by 8 a.m. on Voting Day
  • Assist with set-up of the voting location
  • Assist the Location Supervisor with the set-up of the vote tabulator
  • Process ballots through the vote tabulator
  • Troubleshoot rejected ballots and any error messages displayed on the vote tabulator
  • Redirect voter to the Deputy Returning Officer, as required (i.e. rejected ballot)
  • Escalate technical issues to the Location Supervisor, as needed
  • Provide hourly tally of ballots cast to the Location Supervisor
  • Assist with closing the voting location

  • Must not be:
    • A candidate or registered third party advertiser;
    • An immediate family member of a candidate; or,

Accessible Unit Attendant

Voting Day: Monday, October 26 (8 a.m. to 10 p.m.)

Compensation:

$304 flat-rate payment (includes hours worked on Voting Day, and training and other duties prior to Voting Day)


​Reporting to the Location Supervisor, the Accessible Unit Attendant is responsible for the operation of the accessible voting unit and assisting voters in using the unit to mark their ballot independently, ensuring the secrecy of the vote.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend mandatory training session and review all training material prior to working
  • Arrive at the voting location by 8 a.m. on Voting Day
  • Assist with set-up of the voting location
  • Assist the Location Supervisor with the set-up of the accessible voting unit
  • Assist voters with inserting the ExpressVote ballot into the accessible voting unit
  • Assist voters in using the accessible voting unit and accessible tools in order to mark the ballot independently
  • Troubleshoot any error messages displayed on the accessible voting​ unit
  • Redirect voter to the Deputy Returning Officer, as required (i.e. replacement ballot)
  • Escalate technical issues to the Location Supervisor, as needed
  • Record use of accessible tools 
  • Assist with closing the voting location
  • Return the accessible voting unit to the designated drop-off location at the end of Voting Day

​Reporting to the Location Supervisor, the Greeter is responsible for welcoming voters to the voting location and guiding voters to the appropriate area for processing.​

Key Responsi​bilities:

  • Attend mandatory training session and review all training material prior to working
  • Arrive at the voting location by 8 a.m. on Voting Day
  • Assist with set-up of the voting location
  • Greet and direct voters
  • May be stationed at an entrance to ensure access for voters
  • Ensure voter has identification and/or voter notice
  • Ensure voter is at the correct voting location
  • Direct voter to the appropriate area (Deputy Returning Officer table)
  • Assist voters in determining if they are on the Voters' List
  • Assist with other duties as directed by the Location Supervisor
  • Assist with the closing of the voting location

Work Requirements:

  • Must be 16 years of age on or before time of application
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
  • Must have a valid email address, reliable access to a computer, and internet connection to complete required training
  • Must not be:
    • A candidate or registered third party advertiser;
    • An immediate family member of a candidate; or,
    • Actively working in support of or opposition to a candidate in the Brampton Municipal Election
