Inclusive Communities

​​​The City of Brampton is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), and to fostering a community where all residents feel valued, respected, and celebrated. This vibrant cultural mosaic is showcased each year through a variety of events that highlight and honour the city's rich diversity.

Through these initiatives, the City creates opportunities for residents to come together, share experiences, and learn​ from one another—strengthening community connections and promoting a sense of belonging. From cultural celebrations to inclusive programming, Brampton continues to embrace and uplift the voices, traditions, and contributions that make the city unique.

Events

Every February, Brampton celebrates Black History month by hosting festivities and events that honour the legacy of Black Canadians and celebrates the many achievements and contributions of Black Bramptonians who, throughout history, have done so much to make Brampton the livable, compassionate and prosperous city it is today.​​​​​​​​​​

Through programming, International Women's Day provides an opportunity to celebrate and raise awareness of the many achievements and contributions of female Bramptonians who, throughout history, have done so much to make Brampton a livable, compassionate and prosperous city it is today.​

The City of Brampton recognizes June as Pride Month and is pleased to celebrate and connect with the LGBTTIQQ2SA community at its annual Pride event in Garden Square with live entertainment, local food vendors and more.​

The City of Brampton is dedicated to supporting older adults in maintaining an active, healthy, and connected lifestyle. Special events hosted at the Bob Callahan Flower City Seniors Centre foster social connection and well-being in a welcoming environment.

Seniors Dinner and Dance events, ​open to residents aged 55+, provide opportunities to meet new people, connect with friends, and enjoy a festive meal and music. Held throughout the year, these celebrations include themed events such as St. Patrick's Day, Oktoberfest, and Christmas.

Each year, the City of Brampton’s Recreation division celebrates older adults and their contributions through June is Seniors Month a featured event for residents aged 55+. The City is committed to supporting seniors in staying healthy, active, and engaged, while promoting a high quality of life.

Throughout the month, older adults are invited to participate in a variety of events, activities, and initiatives that recognize their impact on the community and foster well-being​ and inclusion.

Each year, the City of B​rampton’s Recreation division celebrates older adults and their contributions through June is Seniors Month and Seniors Springfest, a featured event for residents aged 55+. The celebration includes a free expo with vendors and service providers tailored to seniors, as well as a catered lunch and DJ entertainment. While the expo is open to all, the lunch and dance require advance registration. In addition, Recreation offers free programs throughout June at community centres across the city, encouraging older adults to stay active, engaged, and connected.

Community Programming

Community programming refers to a range of accessible services and activities designed to support the well-being, development, and inclusion of residents. It includes recreational opportunities like camps, fitness, sports, and arts, as well as educational initiatives that help youth build skills in areas like science and technology. These programs aim to remove barriers—such as cost or accessibility—so that people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities can participate, connect with others, and engage meaningfully in their community.

ActiveAssist is a fee subsidy program offered by the City of Brampton, helping low-inco​me families and individuals access a wide range of recreation programs. The City continues to have a growing demand for essential services, including camps, youth and 55+ programming, fitness and sports, inclusive programs, and activities such as arts, music, and rock climbing.

The City of Brampton is committed to providing recreational experiences to all by providing a wide variety of accessible recreation programs, inclusive camps, and events for kids (as young as 3), teens and adults living with a disability​.

The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) programs focus on giving our youth exposure to activities that stimulate the intellect. These programs range from LEGO robo​tics, video game designing, hands-on math, science and technology activities.
