The City of Brampton invites professional artists, creatives, and artist-led teams to submit Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the creation of a suspended artwork that will be installed in the new Victoria Park Arena and Sports Hall of Fame.
Community Background
Founded in 1979, the Brampton Sports Hall of Fame has been located inside The CAA Sports and Entertainment Complex since 1999. The Brampton Sports Hall of Fame will be relocated to the newly constructed Victoria Park Arena with a refreshed exhibition focusing on the history of sports within Brampton and displaying a variety of objects, images, media, and interactive displays.
Project Description
The City of Brampton will be commissioning a new public artwork to be installed in the Victoria Park Arena and Sports Hall of Fame. The City is looking for a dynamic public artwork that will celebrate the rich history of sport in Brampton. The artwork will be installed near the main doors of the Arena and suspended from a reinforced ceiling structure. Architects have designed and fabricated a series of rings that will be used to mount and secure the suspended artwork.
Public Art Location
The artwork will be located inside the main entrance of Victoria Park Arena at 20 Victoria Crescent, Brampton, Ontario. It will be suspended from the ceiling and situated within the Brampton Sports Hall of Fame.
Budget
The total budget for the Public Artwork at Victoria Park Area is $90,000 in Canadian Dollars, including HST. This is the maximum available budget to cover all the costs associated with the implementation of the Successful Artist's concept.

Project Phases
The selection of the Victoria Park Arena Public Artwork will be a two-stage, provincial competition, open to professional artists based in Ontario.
The procurement process will consist of (1) a request for Expression of Interest (EOI), followed by (2) a Request for Proposals (RFP) from the selected shortlist of qualified professional artists.
Stage 1: Expression of Interest
A Selection Panel will review all submissions and meet in May/June 2026 to identify a shortlist of up to three (3) artists. The review and assessment will be based on artistic excellence and demonstrated or perceived ability to create and execute an innovative, engaging public artwork that is complementary to Brampton Sports Hall of Fame and Victoria Park Arena.
The Selection Panel will be comprised of a diverse group of professionals and community members and may include artists, curators, urban designers, engineers, and community representatives.
Stage 2: Request for Proposals
Shortlisted artists will be notified in writing and invited to develop a design proposal.
A detailed Terms of Reference document will be provided to guide the shortlisted artists in the preparation of their proposals. The timeline for the concept development period is two (2) months, resulting in a final concept proposal, budget, and schedule.
Shortlisted artists will be paid a fee of $1,500 plus HST for this stage and will present their proposals to the Selection Panel.
The successful artist will be notified in writing that they have been awarded the commission. The successful artist will work with the City to refine their design and to develop technical plans for fabrication and installation.
The Selection Panel, and the City, retains the right not to choose a successful artist.
