 General Questions

No, unionized opportunities follow an internal process according to the respective collective agreement. Should this process not be successful, external advertising is explored.​

We encourage you to apply to any opportunities that meet your skills, education and professional experience.​​

Thank you for your interest in employment opportunities with the City of Brampton. All applications must be completed online. To do so, you must submit your cover letter, resume and, depending on the position, respond to mandatory questions related to your skills, education and professional experience.​

We post opportunities on our website on a regular basis. Please visit us frequently to see if there are any new employment opportunities that match your skills and interests.​​

 Online Application

You can check your status by logging in to your profile and reviewing your candidate dashboard. The das​​hboard will display all positions you've applied to, along with the status of each one.

Click the job title of the appropriate job within the career portal

  1. If you're not logged in, you may be taken to an Enter Your Email page after clicking this button. By inputting your email address, the system will identify whether you're a new applicant or a returning applicant with an existing profile. It will then direct you to the logical next step in your application.
  2. If you don't have an existing profile, on the next page, enter your name and email address and create a login and password. You can also build your profile by signing in to a social account or uploading a resume. When finished, click Submit Profile.

  3. Notes:

    • You may be able to select from the following options to upload a resume: My Computer (to select a resume from your computer or mobile device), Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive.
    • When uploading a resume, the system may populate some profile fields with the information from that resume. To take full advantage of this resume parsing functionality, upload your resume prior to completing other fields.
    • You can typically begin the application process without a resume, but you may be required to submit one before completing your application.

  4. On the Candidate Profile page, fill in and/or update all appropriate fields. When finished, click Update Profile.
  5. Once the application process is complete, a new page with a confirmation message will display, indicating that the application was submitted successfully.​

Upon completion of your online application, you will receive an email confirmation acknowledging that your resume has been successfully submitted to the City of Brampton.

Please check your junk mail folder as the system generated email may have been misfiled by your email provider.

We thank all applicants for their interest in the City, however only those selected for interview will be contacted.​

  1. Log in to your profile and click Dashboard at the top right.
  2. Select the Update Your Profile button.
  3. Upload a resume or click Replace to replace an existing resume, if desired.
  4. Enter or update your name, address, and any additional information, if desired.
  5. Select Update Profile to submit your changes.​

You can do this through the candidate dashboard in your online profile. In the Actions column, you'll see a continue application button next to all jobs in which you have an incomplete application. Clicking this button allows you to continue your application from where you left off.​

Yes, if you forgot your password, you can easily reset it. Just click Log back in! at the top right corner of any page on the career site. You'll be directed to the Login page, where you'll see a link for Forgot your password? Click that link, enter your email address, and then check your email for directions to reset your password.​

You cannot re-apply for the position, but you can update your information by updating your profile at any time.​

 Registration

You do not have the ability to delete your iCIMS profile. Please reach out to the HR department who will purge your profile in the iCIMS platform.​

Yes. Your use of City of Brampton (hosted by iCIMS) is governed by the Privacy and Confidentiality provisions.​

Registration allows you to protect the information you submit to City of Brampton. Only one resume/cover letter can be associated with a profile at a time.

To help ensure this information is protected, only you should know the username and password you use for this site.​​​

The application pages on City of Brampton are created and hosted by iCIMS. When you register with City of Brampton, you will also be registered with iCIMS. The résumés you create and submit to City of Brampton will not be available to any sites associated with iCIMS or its other clients. Access to information you provide to City of Brampton is restricted to the City of Brampton recruiting team.​

 Self-Identification Survey

Once the survey is completed and the application is submitted, you will not have access to update the information.​

The survey will be part of your application and is voluntary.

Each question allows you to select “prefer not to answer” as a response. Should you wish to opt out of completing the survey, please select “prefer not to answer” as a response to each question.

You will be asked to complete the survey with every application submitted for a position with the City.​

Your privacy is important to us.

Your information will remain confidential. The City takes steps to protect personal information and handle such records in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA).

The survey will be anonymized and will be kept separate from the applicant’s or employee files. The survey responses will be disaggregated so that the individuals who completed the survey cannot be identified and to maintain anonymity.

Applicant responses will be stored on the City of Brampton’s applicant tracking system. Only authorized staff within Human Resources and the Equity Office will have access to individual responses.

Yes, you can still apply for a position. Completing the self-identification survey is voluntary. Your application will be accepted regardless of whether or not you complete the survey.​

The survey is part of the work plan commitment made in the Workplace Diversity and Inclusion Strategy to monitor the demographic representation of underrepresented groups and also addresses the Brampton City Council motion passed on June 16, 2021, specifically, Equity Principles in the City's Recruitment, Hiring and Promotion of Staff.

Your voluntary self-identification will help the City to identify and remove barriers that have historically negatively impacted the employment opportunities of underrepresented groups and make the hiring process more equitable and inclusive for all applicants.

We are working on strengthening our hiring strategies and processes, however without data we are limited in our ability to measure the success of these initiatives. The data you provide will help the City understand who is applying, who is progressing through the hiring process and ultimately who is successful in attaining these positions.

Please do the following:

  • Click on Tools
  • Scroll down to Internet Options
  • Click on the Privacy Tab
  • Lower the scroll bar to “Accept All Cookies”
  • Press Apply, then OK

When you are finished applying remember to go back and change this setting to the original setting.​

The best way to respond is to reply online to the message you received. This ensures the subject line from the original message is maintained. It also ensures your reply is directed to the City of Brampton recruiter who sent you the message.​

We strongly encourage that a cover letter outlining your expertise and accomplishments accompany your résumé​.

If you are applying for a specific position, your résumé will be directed automatically to the City of Brampton Talent Acquisition Specialist responsible for filling that position. After evaluating your skills and background, the Talent Acquisition Specialist may contact you for further information or an interview. Your résumé will be maintained in City of Brampton database and will be available only to our recruiting team.​
