Supporting a thriving community through Parks and Recreation in Brampton
Guided by the Parks
and Recreation Master Plan (PRMP), a long-term roadmap guiding the delivery of parks, facilities, programs and services through 2036, the City is making strategic investments to deliver projects and initiatives that foster healthy and active lifestyles. This includes a five per cent increase in recreation programming in 2025, with a goal of welcoming 8,000 more participants to Brampton’s programs and facilities this year.
Brampton also continues to lead in accessibility and inclusion, as the first city in Canada to offer free annual recreation memberships for residents aged 65 and older, a program that supports older adults in staying active, engaged and connected to their community.
Adding to the available amount of community and recreation spaces for residents to enjoy, the City recently reopened the Balmoral
Recreation Centre following a major revitalization and expansion project, representing a $25 million investment into enhanced services and accessible infrastructure. Several additional capital projects are underway, including the Earnscliffe
Park Cricket Facility, Century
Gardens Youth Hub and the Howden
Recreation Centre and Library Branch. These developments are in addition to new parks and splash pads opening across Brampton in 2025, expanding access to high-quality outdoor spaces and recreational amenities city-wide.
Brampton offers more than 4,000 acres of parkland, 425 parks, 600 kilometres of trails and state-of-the-art community centres that provide inclusive, year-round programming for residents of all ages and abilities.
