Transit

As one of Canada’s fastest growing cities, Brampton’s transit and transportation infrastructure plays a critical role in building a sustainable community, addressing gridlock, and efficiently moving people and goods.

The new Downtown Transit Terminal, in conjunction with the Centre for Innovation, will unlock the downtown and support the transit needs of Brampton residents. a Transit Hub Study will be initiated to determine the optimal configuration and location of the future transit hub.

Hurontario-Main Light Rail Transit (HMLRT): An update to the current environmental assessment study for light rail transit will include a range of transit opportunities, including: the original Hurontario-Main Light Rail Transit approved route; a Main-George One-Way Loop; underground tunneling options; and incorporate elements of enhanced streetscaping for Downtown Reimagined where possible.

The proposed location and development of the Centre for Innovation includes the possibility of a LRT route within the Main Street North.

Downtown Brampton will be the future connection point between GO Regional Express Rail, extension of Hurontario-Main LRT and Rapid Transit along Queen Street. This will help support connectivity within Brampton and beyond.
