The Cultural Heritage Master Plan (CHMP) is a strategic planning document that expresses the vision and process of how the City of Brampton identifies, conserves, manages and celebrates its tangible and intangible cultural heritage resources based on shared community identities, values and history rooted in extensive public engagement.
The Plan will create an integrated Heritage Strategy that will serve as the approach for developing and implementing policies and programs that will guide and enable the long-term conservation and integration of cultural heritage resources in the context of Brampton's growth and development, contributing towards creating attractive, livable neighbourhoods and sustainable/well-balanced communities. The heritage management framework for Brampton seeks to seamlessly integrate the identification, conservation, and promotion of the city's heritage resources into all policy and planning activities.
Public Engagement Opportunities
As part of the CHMP, Heritage Team at the City of Brampton will host various public engagement events. Our first event will take place at The Rose Theatre on September 20, 2025, featuring "Razing Capitol", a play that brings to life the rich and storied past of the Heritage Theatre on Main Street. The City's Heritage team will be available at the Rose Theatre Lobby from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM to answer your questions about the CHMP.
