BRAMPTON, ON — Canada Day falls on Wednesday, July 1, this year. In observance of the holiday, most City of Brampton offices, including City Hall, will be closed.
Essential and Critical Services
All essential and critical services, including Fire and Emergency Services, Traffic Services, Enforcement and By-law Services, Road Operations and Security Services, will continue to operate as usual.
Experience Canada Day at Chinguacousy Park
Celebrate Canada Day at Chinguacousy Park, the City’s largest annual festival and community celebration. Enjoy a full day of live entertainment, featuring Multi-Platinum country star Lee Brice and Canadian country band Emerson Drive. Showcasing the incredible talent that calls Brampton home, the event welcomes Brampton native and Canadian media personality Jesse Jones as host, with Nicole Chambers performing the national anthem and fellow Brampton artists DJ Johnny Rivex and award-winning singer-songwriter Leah Holtom taking the main stage. The celebration will also feature inflatables and activities for all ages, food vendors and a spectacular fireworks display presented by Tim Hortons to close out the evening.
Plan ahead for Canada Day
Road closures will be in effect and on-site parking at Chinguacousy Park is extremely limited. Residents are encouraged to walk, cycle or take advantage of the City’s free Brampton Transit shuttle service, operating from four convenient locations across the city:
- Mount Pleasant GO Station
- Trinity Common Mall
- Sheridan College
- Gore Meadows Community Centre
Shuttles will run every 30 minutes from noon to 9:30 p.m., with return service from the park operating every 30 minutes from 12:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Safety measures in place throughout the event
The safety and security of attendees remains a top priority. Safety measures will be in place throughout the event to support a safe, welcoming and enjoyable experience for all.
Measures include perimeter fencing with designated entry and exit points, security and bag checks at all entrances, enforcement of the event’s prohibited items list, and increased coordination between City staff, event personnel and Peel Regional Police.
Attendees are encouraged to review event guidelines before arriving, allow extra time for entry and follow all directions from event staff and security personnel.

Fireworks Safety
The safety of residents is the City’s top priority. Under the Fireworks By-law, the use, purchase, discharge, possession, display, sale and offering of fireworks is prohibited, except for City-led events. Sparklers are permitted. Penalties for failing to comply with the by-law start at $500. For more information, visit brampton.ca/fireworks.
Service Brampton
Service Brampton is available 24/7, including holidays, with only urgent service requests handled between 12 a.m. and 7 a.m. Urgent service requests are situations that impact community safety, such as vehicles blocking emergency access, injured or aggressive animals and traffic signal outages. They are actioned in a priority sequence. Residents can contact Service Brampton for any City of Brampton and Region of Peel inquiries by using the Brampton 311 app (available on the App Store and Google Play), visiting 311brampton.ca or by dialing 3-1-1 or 905.874.2000 (outside Brampton). Non-urgent requests should be submitted through the app or online at 311brampton.ca.
Brampton Transit
Brampton Transit will be operating on a Sunday/Holiday schedule on Wednesday, July 1. Customer Service counters at all terminals will be closed. Clark and Sandalwood Facilities, including Lost and Found, will be closed. The Contact Centre will be available to assist from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 905.874.2999. Brampton Parks
All City trails, playgrounds and parks, including off-leash dog parks, remain open on Canada Day. Visit brampton.ca/parks to explore the more than 870 parks and recreational trails in Brampton.
Brampton Recreation
Select Recreation Centres including Professors Lake
beach and Peel Village Golf
Course, will be open with modified holiday hours on Canada Day. There will be no registered programs or camps on Wednesday, July 1. Residents are encouraged to check their registration receipt for exclusion dates and visit brampton.ca/holidayhours for holiday hours, program listings and facility information.
Brampton Library
All Brampton Library branches will be closed on Wednesday, July 1, but members can continue to access the Library's collection of books, eResources, movies, online learning, and more on its website or through the mobile app.
Everyone is invited to register for Brampton Library
summer clubs, TD Summer Reading Club (TDSRC) for babies and children from 0 to 12 years, teen summer reading club and adult summer reading club, to participate in fun challenges and earn chances to win prizes.

Brampton Animal Services
The Brampton
Animal Shelter will be closed on Wednesday, July 1. Animal Services officers will be on the road for patrol and will continue to respond to emergency calls after hours.
