Canada Post workers, represented by the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW), are currently on strike. During the mail service strike, the City will be unable to receive mail. Residents may use other service channels for payments and applications, including:
- in-person
- online
- by phone
Please note that property taxes, parking tickets and other fines are still due by their scheduled deadlines, regardless of the postal service interruption.
Property Taxes
October overdue notices and November supplementary bills will be sent as scheduled using a courier service. During the strike, the City will be unable to receive mail. Residents are advised not to mail payments to the City. Instead, residents are encouraged to use other service channels (in-person, online, phone) for payments. For more information or to access account information, visit My Property Tax.
Animal Services
For the duration of the strike, Animal Services will not mail pet licence renewal notices. If you bought your licence online or have provided an email, you will receive reminders by email; some residents may also get a reminder phone call. Renewal notices are a courtesy only. Pet owners must maintain a valid licence regardless of whether a reminder is received. Pet licences can be renewed online.
Automated Speed Enforcement
Speed tickets will be issued and served through an alternative courier service.
Council and Committees of Council
Public notices for Council meetings and Committee of Adjustment meetings are posted online.
Courts and Administrative Services
Scheduling of early resolutions and trials have been paused and notices will not be sent during this time. The public remains responsible for the payment of fines and penalties by their set due dates for both Provincial Offences and Administrative Penalties.
