BRAMPTON, ON—The Labour Day holiday marks the end of summer and is the last celebration before students return to school. This year, Labour Day is on Monday, September 2, and most City of Brampton administrative offices, including City Hall, will be closed in observance of the holiday.
Back-to-school safety tips
As students return to school, drivers are reminded to:
- Be alert when driving in school zones. Be mindful of all crosswalks, "No Parking" and "No Stopping" signs. Watch for children crossing at all points along your route.
- Do not block a school’s fire route, even for a few seconds. In an emergency, those precious seconds can make all the difference for first responders.
- Watch for crossing guards. The stop signs they hold have the same legal authority as a fixed stop sign at an intersection.
- Do not park/stop in bike lanes. The fine for parking/stopping in these lanes is $150.
