Brampton City Hall and parking garage to undergo essential repairs

BRAMPTON, ON – Brampton City Hall is undergoing more improvements. On Sunday, March 3, City Hall and the underground parking garage will be closed for essential repairs. Electrical power will be partially disconnected for approximately four hours, from 7 am to 11 am.

The partial power shutdown will only affect equipment and systems that are connected to the emergency generator power source such as elevators, emergency lighting, some IT equipment and fire pumps. The city is working with the appropriate departments to ensure IT related systems within City Hall are connected to emergency power. This includes the following:
  • Network infrastructure – network switches, wireless access points, etc.
  • Voice communications – City telephone gateways and Bell infrastructure for dial-tone.
  • Radio infrastructure – signal boosters to provide radio communication throughout the building.
This shutdown is not anticipated to impact computer or phone systems.

A second partial power shutdown will occur on Saturday, March 23, tentatively from 8 am to 4 pm. The underground parking garage and its elevator will be closed during this time.

During these temporary closures, City staff and members of the public will not be able to access City Hall and the underground parking garage.

Free parking remains available in Downtown Brampton:
  • West Tower Parking Garage (41 George Street South)
  • Nelson Square Parking Garage (9 Diplock Lane)
  • John Street Parking Garage (16 John Street)
  • Market Square Parking Garage (Theatre Lane & Union Street)
