Rebuilding a beloved community landmark and celebrating a legacy of sporting excellence

BRAMPTON, ON (June 10, 2026) – The City of Brampton is celebrating significant progress on the construction to revitalize Victoria Park Arena. With construction underway and the project moving one step closer to completion, the City is marking continued momentum in the redevelopment of the historic community facility.

First built in 1966 and once a hub for junior hockey and lacrosse in Brampton, Victoria Park Arena was closed in May 2016 following a fire that destroyed the original building. Today, the site is being reimagined into a modern, inclusive and multi-functional space designed to serve residents for generations to come.

Recreation Revitalized | Victoria Park Arena

The new Victoria Park Arena will feature a fully accessible hardwood dry floor arena designed to support a range of sports including box lacrosse, ball hockey and indoor field hockey. The facility will also include six team changerooms with showers and washrooms, a coach and meeting room, a referee room, and a large multi-purpose space.

A second-storey mezzanine with seating for up to 500 spectators will overlook the playing surface, creating an engaging and inclusive viewing experience. The project also includes site improvements and landscaping to enhance the surrounding public space.

As part of the redevelopment, the arena will become the new home of the Brampton Sports Hall of Fame, celebrating the achievements and contributions of local athletes and builders in sport.

In addition to its sport and recreation features, the facility will showcase local creativity through public art installations commissioned by the City of Brampton. One display will be installed within the Sports Hall of Fame and suspended from a reinforced ceiling structure, while the other will be a mural in the lobby. Both pieces will celebrate the history of sport in Brampton.

The Victoria Park Arena redevelopment continues to take shape, with this milestone marking continued progress toward the facility's anticipated completion in fall 2027.
