Local celebration features author talks, workshops, performances and community-driven events

BRAMPTON, ON (April 10, 2026) – The City of Brampton invites residents and visitors to take part in the second annual Brampton Book Week, running from April 21 to May 3, 2026. This city-wide celebration brings literacy and storytelling to life through engaging events and experiences across Brampton.

Brampton Book Week invites the residents to connect through the written and spoken word while spotlighting local literary talent. Author talks, workshops, poetry events and book clubs offer opportunities to experience storytelling and explore voices reflecting Brampton’s diversity.

The initiative will kick off with local students participating in the Arts Walk of Fame induction of Brampton illustrator and author Ruth Ohi, celebrating creativity and inspiring young readers. Programming continues across the city, offering opportunities to engage with Brampton’s literary scene and leading into the Festival of Literary Diversity (FOLD). Founded in 2016, FOLD is a marquee cultural event for Brampton, featuring acclaimed authors, emerging writers and diverse literary voices.

Brampton Book Week is delivered in collaboration with valued local cultural partners, including:

  • Experience Brampton
  • Brampton Library
  • Brampton Arts Organization (BAO)
  • Festival of Literary Diversity (FOLD)
  • Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA)
  • The Rose
  • Local businesses and bookstores
