New facility expands sports infrastructure and reinforces Brampton's position as Canada's cricket capital​

BRAMPTON, ON (July 15, 2025) – The City of Brampton has officially opened a new full-size cricket field at Creditview Sandalwood Park​, further cementing its place as the cricket capital of Canada. This high-quality facility features top-tier amenities including players’ pavilions, a scoreboard, sight screens, irrigation and field lighting. This new field adds to the variety of amenities the park offers, including an accessible splash pad and playground, outdoor fitness equipment and sports fields of various sizes to accommodate soccer, cricket, football and lacrosse.

As the first new sports infrastructure project since the launch of Brampton’s new Sport Tourism Strategy​, this facility marks a significant step forward in expanding the City’s growing inventory of sport venues, enhancing its ability to host local, provincial and national-level events while supporting sport development opportunities for residents. With strong infrastructure, a growing population and a strategic location, the City is well-positioned to become a leading hub for high-performance training and competition in Ontario and across Canada.​

The Creditview Sandalwood Park Cricket Field builds on the City’s expanding cricket infrastructure, which includes a $25 million investment in the City of Brampton’s first dedicated year-round cricket facility currently under construction at Earnscliffe Park. ​Once completed by early 2026, the Earnscliffe Park Cricket Facility will offer indoor and outdoor cricket amenities, ensuring year-round access to the sport for Brampton residents and beyond.

• Through the 2025 Budget, the City of Brampton is investing approximately $10 million over the next two years to equip local cricket facilities with lighting and other enhancements. 
• Brampton is home to 23 cricket fields, 1 tapeball pitch and growing! 
• Construction of the Earnscliffe Park Cricket Facility, Brampton’s first dedicated year-round cricket facility, is underway and expected to open by early 2026.
• The City’s cricket amenities host 70 unique seasonal organizations, tournaments and individuals that book over 19,000 hours of field time. 
• The City Lands​ is a proposed redevelopment of the municipal-owned site at Kennedy Road South, Highway 410 and 407, at the CAA sports and entertainment facility that includes a new state-of-the-art, multi-purpose cricket facility. 
• Opened in April 2025, and in partnership with Peel District School Board, the City invested to bring a new, fully lit cricket facility with artificial turf wickets and player pavilions at Turner Fenton Secondary School. ​This project is Brampton’s first joint-use cricket pitch with Peel District School Board.
