Help shape Brampton’s future growth; City asking for community input on Brampton’s New Official Plan – “Brampton Plan”

BRAMPTON, ON (March 22, 2021) –The City of Brampton is hosting Brampton Plan: City Structure Workshop a City-wide, public workshop on Saturday, April 10, from 10 am to 12 pm, to gather input from residents, business owners, community groups and stakeholders on its Brampton Plan.

The workshop is part of a series of public events to gather input as the City of Brampton enters the next phase of Brampton Plan, the City’s Official Plan Review. Brampton Plan will create a roadmap for how the City will develop and grow in the future.

During 2021, the City of Brampton will continue extensive community consultation processes built off of the Brampton 2040 Vision with residents, community groups and agencies, Indigenous peoples, builders, developers, local stakeholders, and other levels of government. This input will help create a more vibrant, environmentally sustainable and healthier future for Brampton.

Community feedback will help guide City Council. When approved by Council, Brampton Plan will establish a legislative framework to manage and guide growth and future development in Brampton. Brampton Plan will determine where housing, shops and businesses, parks, trails, and natural areas will be built, in addition to where roads, transit and other essential infrastructure is needed to support a rapidly growing city of more than 700,000.

Since Brampton’s last Official Plan in 2006, the City has become the ninth largest city in Canada and population growth is three times higher than the provincial average. There have also been changes to Provincial and Regional planning policies. Brampton Plan will align these planning policies along with the City’s strategic plans, projects, and development to fulfill the aspirations of the Brampton 2040 Vision: Living the Mosaic as well as supporting the Term of Council Priorities.
