Residents invited to learn how to improve lives of people of all abilities at virtual event December 3

BRAMPTON, ON (December 1, 2020) – Residents are invited to attend a virtual event A Conversation with Maayan Ziv this Thursday, December 3 from 10 to 11 am on the UN-proclaimed International Day for Persons with Disabilities.

Maayan Ziv, recent recipient of the Governor General’s Innovation Award, is an activist, photographer and entrepreneur. She is also living with Muscular Dystrophy and is a passionate advocate for creating a more accessible world. In 2015, Maayan founded AccessNow, a crowdsourced app to map the accessibility status of locations worldwide.

At the virtual event, attendees will learn from Maayan on how to break down barriers, improve accessibility across Canada, and improve the lives of people of all abilities. Online registration can be found here.

Each year, the City of Brampton celebrates Accessibility Awareness Week internally in December to raise awareness and educate residents about the barriers people with disabilities face every day. The City and its Accessibility Advisory Committee are committed to ensuring people of all ages and abilities enjoy the same opportunities as they live, work, play, visit and invest in Brampton.
