'Release Your Power' celebrates the diversity, culture and world-class athleticism we enjoy right here at Gore Meadows Community Centre and within the City of Brampton. The mural pulls together the culture and community of Brampton- diversity in culture, age and ability, an urban feel and iconic symbols of the city like the 410 North Sign, the Zum bus and an ode to our parks and recreation. Having grown up in Brampton as a South Asian teen who loved sports myself, it was an absolute honour to be able to reflect the city's diversity by portraying a turbaned badminton player and the henna hands of a young girl sending off emojis. Each one of our athlete portraits represents an important sport and segment of the population.

To make our mural even more incredibly playful and immersive, I leveraged Augmented Reality technology that allows the mural to come to life through animation. And the best part is that when the massive 30x30ft mural turns into a short film of the players showcasing their skills, you can jump into the frame and be a part of it!

I'm excited to see how our positive public art can add to our growing, thriving Brampton community- and it was a pleasure to bring this mural in particular to the people.
