This public art initiative is part of the My Neighbourhood Art Project, a series of site-specific, temporary art installations created in collaboration with the local community.

Window to Our Worlds is a two-part, digital mural celebrating the diverse interests and imaginations of the community. Developed through three interactive community engagement sessions, the mural reflects the dynamic energy of preschool children.

The artwork embraces themes of numbers, animals, colours and nature, inspired by children’s curiosity and playfulness.

This project demonstrates the power of community collaboration in shaping meaningful public art. By tailoring each design to its audience’s unique interests, the mural fosters a sense of belonging and connection while transforming shared spaces into vibrant, engaging environments.

One of the project goals is to increase artist opportunities by pairing local emerging artists with an experienced lead artist. The artists worked together to facilitate community workshops and capture feedback for this mural. In total, over 80 participants took part in the ideation and creation sessions for Window to Our Worlds!

My Neighbourhood Art Project exemplifies the importance of meaningful community arts engagement and neighbourhood beautification.
