This public art initiative is part of the My Neighbourhood Art Project, a series of site-specific, temporary art installations created in collaboration with the local community.

Chasing Fire Through Time celebrates the bravery, diversity, and history of Brampton Fire, while honouring its roots in the community and its commitment to protecting the city's future.

Painted across the three garage doors of Station #213, the mural tells the story of Brampton Fire's past, present, and future. The artwork shows firefighters moving through time. Their uniforms and equipment change as they “jump” from one era to the next, together chasing a playful character shaped like fire. By the end of the mural, the fire is finally put out - symbolizing the courage and determination of firefighters across generations.

The foreground shows tall grass that transforms into flames and then into flowing water, a reminder of the constant balance between danger and protection. In the background, the landscape shifts from farmland and open fields into the homes and neighbourhoods. Along the top and bottom borders, you'll see banners filled with smaller details: local plants and wildlife, firefighting tools, historic fire badges, and words that represent the values of Brampton Fire. These details were inspired by research done at the Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA), connecting the design to the real history of the community.

My Neighbourhood Art Project exemplifies the importance of meaningful community arts engagement and neighbourhood beautification.
