Alessia Cara, who grew up in Brampton and attended Cardinal Ambrozic Catholic Secondary School, is a GRAMMY award-winning singer-songwriter whose distinctive voice and thoughtful pop songwriting have earned international acclaim. She rose to prominence with her breakout single Here (2015) and the multi-platinum hit Scars to Your Beautiful. In 2018, she became the first Canadian to win the GRAMMY award for Best New Artist.

Her discography includes the acclaimed albums Know-It-All, The Pains of Growing and In the Meantime, as well as notable collaborations such as Logic's eight-times-platinum 1-800-273-8255. A five-time JUNO award winner with global chart success, Cara is recognized as one of Canada's leading contemporary pop artists.

To commemorate the induction, Alessia Cara headlined the City of Brampton's annual New Year's Eve celebration where Mayor & Council officially presented the incredible recognition.
