BRAMPTON, ON – The City of Brampton is launching its 2026 Budget public engagement process, providing residents, businesses and community stakeholders with opportunities to share feedback and priorities as Mayor Brown prepares the proposed budget.
Community input remains an important part of the City’s annual budget development process and helps inform investments supporting Brampton as a great place to live, work and grow.
Public engagement opportunities
The Mayor, other Members of Council and City staff will host a series of engagement activities throughout January 2026 to gather feedback from residents and businesses.
Business Roundtable
Date: Tuesday, January 13, 2026
Time: 9:30 to 11 am
Format: Virtual
Details: Hosted in collaboration with Finance, the Mayor’s Office, Councillor Toor, the Chair of Economic Development and Vice Chair, Councillor Santos to gather feedback from Brampton’s business community.

DBBIA Roundtable

Telephone Town Hall

Time: 7 to 8:30 pm
Details: The Mayor and City staff will host a Telephone Town Hall, providing residents with an opportunity to ask questions, share feedback and participate in live polling.

Budget development process and timeline
The proposed 2026 Budget will be released on Friday, January 9, 2026, accompanied by a press conference and news release.
Public delegations and Council deliberations will take place between January 19 and 27, 2026.
Final budget adoption is scheduled for a Special Council Meeting on January 27, 2026.
Following the release of the proposed budget, Council will consider the budget in accordance with the Municipal Act, 2001, including provisions related to Council amendments and mayoral veto authority.
Following budget adoption, the City will launch a public education campaign featuring videos and digital content from the Mayor and Members of Council to help residents better understand the approved 2026 Budget and key investments.
The City of Brampton’s annual budget process is supported by a comprehensive communications and engagement approach, including public meetings, telephone town halls, digital engagement, news releases, social media and the City’s budget website.
