Since 2022, due to changes under Bill 23 (More Homes Built Faster Act), the City is reviewing properties on its Heritage Register. Under this law, properties listed must be officially designated by the end of 2026 or they will lose heritage protection for at least five years.
Downtown Brampton is home to the city's largest concentration of heritage assets, and approximately 60 properties have been identified as meeting the criteria for designation. Property owners are being informed directly and encouraged to engage with the Heritage team to discuss the implications and benefits of heritage designation, including maintenance support and potential preservation resources.
Ahead of the open house, residents and property owners are invited to complete an online survey available through Let’s Connect. The survey will gather insights to inform and enrich discussions during the open house. To complete the survey, visit

Your participation will shape Brampton's heritage conservation and future development strategies, keeping Downtown Brampton vibrant and true to its unique cultural identity.
