BRAMPTON, ON — The City of Brampton is seeking community input on the proposed creation of the Brampton International Markets Corporation, a Municipal Services Corporation (MSC), as part of its commitment to build relationships in new international markets and support the diversification of export opportunities for goods and services from Brampton.

On February 26, 2025, Brampton City Council approved Resolution C053-2025, directing City staff to engage in public consultation and report back with a business case for the establishment of an MSC. This initiative aims to address the economic impacts stemming from potential U.S. tariffs on Canadian goods, supporting local businesses and industries by exploring new global market opportunities.

What is the Brampton International Markets Corporation?

The proposed MSC will focus on:
  • Building and maintaining relationships in new international markets.
  • Supporting diversification and expansion of export markets for local goods and services.
  • Enhancing Brampton’s global economic presence and resilience.

Public Consultation Process

Residents, businesses and stakeholders are invited to provide feedback on the proposed MSC and its objectives. Community input will be integral to developing the business case and shaping the final recommendations to Council.
