About Brampton BOXED

Launched in 2021, Brampton BOXED aims to engage emerging artists with a strong connection to Brampton to help shape public spaces. Artists are selected to create artwork that is wrapped around local traffic boxes, adding vibrancy to everyday infrastructure. Brampton BOXED is part of the City’s Public Art Strategy, Brampton: An Artful Future, and offers a unique opportunity for artists to gain public art experience by creating artwork for traffic control boxes across the city.

Since 2021, 30 traffic boxes have been transformed, enhancing the visual landscape of Brampton's streets and adding to the City’s growing number of public art installations.

Public Art in Brampton

Public art helps create vibrant community spaces in Brampton. Art in public spaces invites residents and visitors to engage with their surroundings, sparking meaningful conversations and reinforcing the City’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. Brampton’s collection of public art includes more than 65 public art installations, carefully curated with the input of the community. Last year, the City endorsed its first Public Art Strategy, further underscoring its vision to implement public art into community development.

This year, the City's public art initiatives will deliver more opportunities to connect the community with local creativity and talent, with plans to add installations such as the William G. Davis Memorial, the Terry Fox Memorial and through community-engaged art initiatives such as the My Neighbourhood Art Project. These installations create vibrant and accessible spaces that reflect the unique stories of Brampton's past, present and future.   Learn more at brampton.ca/publicart.
