BRAMPTON, ON — The City of Brampton is taking proactive steps to improve parking compliance and public safety. Building on the City’s investment in hiring 38 additional By-law Officers and two support positions, Brampton has amended its Administrative Penalties (Parking) By-law 333-2013 to introduce higher fines for repeat parking offences, reinforcing its commitment to improving road safety and traffic management.

Under the new system, fines will increase by 50 per cent of the initial set fine amount for second and subsequent violations of the same offence. This change applies to several parking infractions, including:

  • parking within three metres of a fire hydrant
  • parking in excess of three hours
  • parking between 2 am and 6 am
  • obstructing traffic

Last year, residents submitted more than 86,000 service requests related to parking infractions. These service requests along with Enforcement Officers proactively patrolling the community resulted in the issuance of more than 130,000 penalty notices.

Parking by-laws exist to maintain safe and accessible streets for all road users, including pedestrians, cyclists, emergency responders and transit services. When parking rules are ignored, it can lead to blocked roads, increased congestion and hazardous conditions that put the community at risk. By increasing fines for repeat offences, the City aims to deter habitual violations and encourage responsible parking behaviour.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to familiarize themselves with parking by-laws and do their part in contributing to a safer, more efficient city. For more information, visit this website.
