BRAMPTON, ON—Professor’s Lake Recreation Centre, Chinguacousy Wellness Centre and Ellen Mitchell Recreation Centre will undergo improvements to ensure they remain in good condition and continue to be enjoyed for years to come.
Recreation Revitalized: Professor’s Lake Recreation Centre
Beginning on Tuesday, September 3, Professor’s Lake beach, water activities, segments of the walking trail and recreation centre will close for the season and to accommodate construction. The project will be completed in two phases to minimize disruptions for area residents and amenity users.
Phase one of the project includes enhancing exterior lighting, asphalt paving and repairs across various parking lot areas and replacing the power distribution equipment, which will cause temporary partial closures to the walking trail. During phase two of the project, the building’s elevator and control systems will be upgraded and the HVAC system will be replaced.
The project is anticipated to be completed in spring 2025.

First opened in 1981, Professor’s Lake Recreation Centre has stood as a community hub for more than 40 years. Welcoming residents and visitors year-round, this community centre offers a lake, a scenic 360 metre walking trail, community rooms overlooking the lake and diverse recreational programs.
In the summer months, Professor’s Lake comes alive with a beach, an inflatable water park, a water slide and convenient watercraft rentals. Beyond its recreational amenities, the centre serves as a gathering place for events, family outings and local activities.
Recreation Revitalized: Chinguacousy Wellness Centre
Beginning on Tuesday, September 3, Chinguacousy Wellness Centre will undergo repairs and upgrades to enhance recreation facilities.
The project involves essential phased repairs to the parking lot, including, asphalt paving, base repairs, concrete work, line painting, sod installation and catch basin adjustments. To minimize disruption during construction, some spaces in the parking lot will remain available, and driveway access from Peter Robertson Blvd is not expected to be restricted.
Additionally, on September 5, there will be mechanical repairs to the centre’s boiler. This will require the temporary one-day closure of the pool, pool change rooms, fitness change rooms, showers and hot tubs. The fitness area and all other programs will remain open.
The revitalization project is anticipated to be completed by October 8, 2024.
