BRAMPTON, ON (November 2, 2023) –The City of Brampton’s Cultural Services Division, launched applications for its 2024 Heartbeats in Performing Arts internship and co-op program for Indigenous and Black youth. This program is generously sponsored by Algoma University, and applications will stay open until all spots are filled.
Heartbeats in Performing Arts aims to celebrate and elevate Indigenous and Black youth, increase cultural understanding, provide opportunities for professional development, and prepare students for future leadership positions and careers in the live performance industry. Heartbeats in Performing Arts internship and co-op program is designed by, for, and with Indigenous and Black students, and guided by a team of Indigenous and Black mentors and professional artists.
High School Co-op Program
This co-op program is a hybrid, virtual and in-person co-op placement with the City of Brampton for semester two (Winter/Spring 2024) with four co-op spots available. The program is for Black and Indigenous students in grades 11 and 12 and is open to students in the Peel Region, GTA and surrounding school boards.
Paid Internship Program
This internship program is for Black and Indigenous students who are currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution (college/university) and will connect a student to one paid internship spot beginning in February 2024.
