Everything you need to know about the 2022 Brampton Municipal and School Board Election on October 24

BRAMPTON, ON (October 21, 2022) – Brampton voters can vote in the 2022 Municipal and School Board Election on Monday, October 24, between 10 am and 8 pm.

Voting provides an important opportunity to help shape Brampton and its future. The City encourages all remaining eligible voters to visit a voting location in their ward to vote on October 24.

Am I eligible to vote?
A person is entitled to be an elector (voter) at an election held in a local municipality, if on Voting Day they are:
• a Canadian citizen;
• at least 18 years old;
• residing in the local municipality or an owner or tenant of land there, or the spouse of such owner or tenant; and
• not otherwise prohibited from voting.

Where and when can I vote?
Eligible voters can vote at any voting location within their ward on Voting Day. Voters can find the voting locations closest to them here.

How do I vote?
On Voting Day, eligible voters will follow these steps:

1. Go to a voting location, within your ward, with your voter notice and a piece of identification.
2. The election official will search your name on the Voters' List and mark you as voting.
3. The election official will give you a ballot to vote.
4. You will go behind a voting screen and mark your ballot – remember, your ballot is double-sided!
5. After marking your ballot, it will be fed into a vote tabulator and deposited into the ballot box to count your vote.
6. The vote tabulator will produce voting results for the voting location at the end of Voting Day.
What if I’m not on the Voters’ List?
If you are not on the Voters’ List, you can be added to the list at the voting location, if you provide a piece of acceptable identification showing your name and qualifying Brampton address. Once you are added to the Voters’ List, you will receive a ballot to vote.

Advance Voting turnout
Brampton voters were able to vote in advance on October 7, 8, 9, 14 and 15. The number of voters who voted during Advance Voting is 19,261 – this is an increase from 2018, when 14,473 eligible voters voted in advance.
