National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Brampton

BRAMPTON, ON (September 26, 2022) – The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation takes place on Friday, September 30. Here is what you need to know about City of Brampton services that day.

The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation seeks to understand the impact and intergenerational harm that residential schools have caused to Indigenous families and nations, and to honour the First Nations, Inuit and Métis lives who were lost and the survivors, their families and communities who have been affected by this injustice. All City facilities will be closed and Transit services will operate on a regular weekday schedule, encouraging all employees and residents to participate in the opportunity to reflect, observe and take part in City and community activities.

All essential and critical services, including Fire and Emergency Services, Traffic Services, By-Law Enforcement, Road Operations, and Security Services will continue to operate as usual to support the community.

Residents can call 311 or 905.874.2000 (outside of Brampton), use the Brampton 311 app (available on App Store or Google Play), visit www.311brampton.ca or email 311@brampton.ca for any inquiries. We are available 24/7 for any City of Brampton or Region of Peel matters.

Residents are invited to join the City of Brampton at the Rose Theatre on September 30 for an evening of commemoration and conversation to remember, reflect and commit to truth and reconciliation.
