BRAMPTON, ON (August 2, 2022) – The City of Brampton Clerk’s Office continues to accept candidate nominations and third party advertiser registrations for the 2022 Brampton Municipal and School Board Election. The nomination period for candidates ends on Friday, August 19, 2022, at 2 pm.

The registration period for third party advertisers will continue until October 21, 2022.

Candidates
The City is accepting nominations for the following offices:
• Mayor
• Regional Councillor
• City Councillor
• School Board Trustee for:
    o Peel District School Board
    o Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board 
    o Conseil scolaire catholique MonAveniro Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir

The City of Mississauga is accepting candidate nominations for School Board Trustee, Conseil scolaire Viamonde.

Nomination forms and information packages for candidates are available online and at the City Clerk’s Office in Brampton City Hall. Forms must be filed by appointment, in person (or by an agent), during regular office hours until August 18, 2022. No appointment is necessary if you plan to file your forms on the last day for filing nominations, Friday, August 19, 2022. Candidates will be served on a first-come-first-served basis on this day only. The hours for filing on August 19, 2022 are from 9 am to 2 pm. Please visit www.brampton.ca/BramptonVotes  to access the required forms, information package and to book an appointment for filing.

At the time of filing, the fee ($200.00 for Mayor, $100.00 for all other positions) is payable by cash, debit, certified cheque or money order. Applicants must provide proof of name and qualifying address. Only original documents will be accepted; faxed or other electronic versions are not permitted..A candidate may neither spend money on, nor receive money for, a campaign before they have filed a Nomination Paper. 

Third Party Advertisers
Any individual, corporation or trade union that wishes to advertise in broadcast, print, electronic or other medium to promote, support or oppose a candidate, is required to register with the City.

Registration forms and information packages are available online and at the City Clerk’s Office in Brampton City Hall. Registrations must be filed in person (or by an agent) during regular office hours until October 21, 2022. An appointment is required in order to file registration papers. Please visit www.brampton.ca/BramptonVotes to access the required forms, information package, and to book an appointment for filing.

The person filing the registration is required to present original identification at the time of filing. A representative who wishes to register on behalf of a corporation or trade union third party advertiser must provide a letter of authorization from a designated official of the corporation or trade union. Only original documents will be accepted; faxed or other electronic versions are not permitted. A third party advertiser may neither spend money on, nor receive money for, a campaign before they have filed their registration papers.
