BRAMPTON, ON (June 7, 2021) – Following the Government of Ontario’s announcement today, the City of Brampton is preparing to safely move to Step One of the Province’s Roadmap to Reopen this Friday, June 11, at 12:01 am. This step comes three days ahead of schedule thanks to the Province’s vaccine rollout in partnership with local public health units, health care partners, municipalities, and the ongoing dedication of our community.
As of June 11, the following rules and measures will be in place under Step One of the Province’s Roadmap to Reopen:
• Outdoor limits for social gatherings and organized public events will be expanded to 10 people, including with members of different households;
• Outdoor religious services, rites, or ceremonies, including wedding services and funeral services, capped at the number of people that can maintain a physical distance of two metres;
• Indoor religious services, rites, or ceremonies, including wedding services and funeral services permitted at up to 15 per cent capacity of the particular room
• Non-essential retail permitted at 15 per cent capacity, with no restrictions on the goods that can be sold;
• Essential and other select retail permitted at 25 per cent capacity, with no restrictions on the goods that can be sold;
• Outdoor dining with up to four people per table with exceptions for larger households;
• Outdoor fitness classes, outdoor groups in personal training and outdoor individual/team sport training to be permitted with up to 10 people where a three metre distance can be maintained;
• Day camps for children permitted to operate in a manner consistent with the safety guidelines for COVID-19 produced by the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health;
• Overnight camping at campgrounds and campsites, including Ontario Parks, and short-term rentals;
• Concert venues, theatres and cinemas may open outdoors for the purpose of rehearsing or performing a recorded or broadcasted concert, artistic event, theatrical performance or other performance with no more than 10 performers, among other restrictions;
• Outdoor horse racing tracks and motor speedways permitted to operate without spectators; and
• Outdoor attractions such as zoos, landmarks, historic sites, botanical gardens with capacity and other restrictions.
The Province’s Roadmap to Reopen is a three-step plan to cautiously reopen the province and gradually lift public health measures based on the provincewide vaccination rate and improvements in key public health and health care indicators.

City Outdoor Recreational Amenities
Outdoor recreational amenities permitted include golf courses and driving ranges, soccer and other sports fields, baseball diamonds and batting cages, tennis and basketball courts, lawn bowling and bocce, BMX and skate parks, and wading pools and splash pads.
Details regarding the season open of Professor’s Lake beach and Eldorado Park outdoor pool will be made available later this month.

Splash Pads and Wading Pools
Splash Pads are open citywide. The wading pool at Chinguacousy Park is scheduled to reopen for public use on June 11, 2021, weather permitting. Wading pools citywide will open on weekends beginning June 12, and open daily beginning June 26. Physical distancing is required and residents are asked to self-assess for COVID-19 symptoms before attending. In-Person Summer Camps
Nine City of Brampton Recreation Centres will host in-person summer camps for children and youth beginning July 5. Camp registration opened on June 7. Camps will include activities such as games, sports, crafts and more, from Monday to Friday from 8:45 am to 5:15 pm. The week of August 2 will run as a shortened week due to the public holiday.
The City of Brampton is implementing enhanced protocols to ensure the health and safety of participants and staff with guidance from Peel Public Health. Participants are required to wear facemasks indoors at all times, and outdoors when physical distancing is not possible. Campers will be divided into cohorts that will not interact with one another. Vaccinations
All individuals 12 years or older who live, work, or attend school in Peel, including Brampton, can now book a COVID-19 vaccine appointment at select clinics. Appointments for individuals aged 12 to 15
must be booked online using the Region of Peel’s booking system. If someone needs help booking, they can call the Region of Peel COVID-19 Vaccination Line at 905.791.5202, 8 am to 8 pm, 7 days a week.
Second dose bookings for Region of Peel residents aged 70+ and those who received a Pfizer or Moderna vaccine on or before April 18 are now available. Appointments can be booked using the Provincial booking system at covid-19.ontario.ca/book-vaccine/ or by calling the Provincial booking line at 1-833-943-3900.
