BRAMPTON, ON (February 10, 2021) – Family Day recognizes the importance of families in our community. This year, Family Day takes place on Monday, February 15, 2021, and as a result, a number of City services will be unavailable or will operate under reduced service levels.
All essential and critical services, including Fire and Emergency Services, Traffic Services, By-Law Enforcement, Road Operations, and Security Services will continue to operate as usual to support the community.

Mayor’s New Year’s Levee

All Customer Service counters are closed to the public on February 15. Bramalea, Brampton Gateway and Downtown Terminal buildings are open from 6 am to 9 pm. Trinity Common Terminal remains closed.
An enhanced cleaning and sanitizing schedule remains in effect. It is Brampton Transit’s goal to disinfect all hard surfaces, operator compartments and seats every 48 hours. The majority of buses are sanitized every 24 hours. Facilities and terminals that have hard surfaces are wiped down and sanitized on a daily basis.
The City urges riders to continue to maintain physical distancing at terminals, and at bus stops, even while wearing a mask, as much as possible. Riders are also reminded to carry their own personal disinfectant when travelling, such as hand sanitizer or wipes, wash their hands often, and cough or sneeze into their elbow. If sick, please refrain from riding transit, get tested at the nearest COVID-19 assessment site and follow public health instructions.
With guidance from Peel Public Health, riders are reminded that non-medical masks covering your nose, mouth and chin are mandatory on buses and terminals. The City of Brampton is working closely with its partners at Peel Public Health and the Brampton Emergency Management Office to continue to monitor risks.

Family Day Fun Online
Enjoy free virtual games and activities led by City of Brampton program leaders on February 13 and 15! Register the entire family for Family Feud, Jeopardy, or a scavenger hunt. If you prefer an activity you can do at your own pace, pick up a free craft kit to create a family plaque or a thumbprint family tree. Touchless, curbside pick-up is available from 3:30 and 7:30 pm at South Fletcher’s Sportsplex and Greenbriar Recreation Centre on February 11 and 12. Please follow all on-site signage and safety instructions during pick-up. Craft kits are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are limited to one per family, while quantities last. Outdoor Skating
City of Brampton ice rinks will be open on Family Day by reservation and weather permitting. Hours of operation can be found at www.brampton.ca/outdoorskating.
Community health and safety is the City’s main priority, especially during COVID-19. In line with Peel Public Health recommendations, a reservation system is in place to visit the rinks. This is to ensure capacity requirements are maintained and contact tracing is possible when necessary.
Reservations are available up to 24 hours in advance. Residents can reserve their spot by:

• Calling our booking line at 905.791.2240
• Calling Service Brampton at 311 from within city limits
All reservations are limited to one hour in duration. Reservations are required for all patrons, including parents, guardians or others who are accompanying skaters but not going on the ice. Residents are asked to check in with staff at an onsite welcome tent upon arrival. If you need to cancel your reservation, call 905.791.2240 or email recconnects@brampton.ca one hour in advance of your booking.
Non-medical masks or face coverings are mandatory on the ice at all outdoor skating rinks for all participants over the age of ten (10). Participants of all ages continue to be required to wear a non-medical mask or face covering in all other areas of the skating enclosure, including washrooms, staging areas, and while waiting in line to check-in for a reserved skate.
At-Home Recreation

Brampton Animal Services
The Brampton Animal Shelter will be closed on Family Day.
Animal Control is on the road Monday to Friday from 7 am to 10 pm, and on Saturday, Sunday and holidays from 8 am to 6:30 pm, and will be responding to the following calls only:
• Pick up of sick/injured/aggressive domestic animals and wildlife
• Aggressive animal
• Dog running at large
• Dog bite investigation
• Pick up of confined stray dog
• Pick up of dead animal
Peel Public Health Reminders for Family Day
As the Region of Peel continues to support efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19, certain regional facilities and services remain affected until further notice. Please continue to do your part to stop the spread of the virus by staying at home as much as possible. Family Day is a time for us to be with loved ones and enjoy time together, but please remember when celebrating this year:
• Only socialize with your immediate household and essential supports.
• For family and friends who live outside your home, take lots of photos and arrange virtual calls to stay connected and maintain physical distance.
• Continue to practice the Core Four actions:

o Wear a mask

o Stay home if sick
