City responds to cybersecurity breach

The City of Brampton takes the privacy and personal information of its employees seriously.
 
The City is aware of a cybersecurity breach by former employees of the corporation, while they were employed, into personal information of former and current employees.

The City took action to immediately advise and provide credit monitoring service to known affected individuals, notified the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario, and has referred this matter to the Peel Regional Police Service.

If you suspect any activities that could be related to this matter, please report it to your local Law enforcement agency.
 
Due to the nature of private and personal information and the referral to law enforcement of the actions of former employees discovered during the investigation, the City will not comment further on the matter at this time.
