​BRAMPTON, ON (June 30, 2020) – The City of Brampton reminds residents of the importance of following by-laws year-round. By-laws are essential to maintaining a clean and safe city, and every resident has a role to play upholding these standards.

Bramptonians are reminded that although Peel Region has now moved into Stage 2, those not adhering to regulations can be fined a minimum of $500 and maximum of up to $100,000 for each offence under the Brampton COVID-19 Emergency Measures By-law, or fined under the provincial Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act (EMCPA). They may also be fined under other relevant City by-laws should they not adhere to them.

Street parking in the city
Staff will resume enforcing infractions under the City’s Traffic and Parking By-law in July that were temporarily suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On Monday, July 6, 2020, enforcement will resume for overnight parking. Under the City’s Traffic and Parking By-law, vehicles cannot be parked on the street between 2 and 6 am. On Monday, July 20, 2020, enforcement will resume for three hour parking violations. Under the By-law, vehicles may not be parked on the street for more than three hours at a time.
 
Parking considerations continue to be available online or by calling 311. For vehicles that require street parking after July 6, 2020, an application is available on the City website. Alternatively, vehicles can be parked on the boulevard space of a driveway between the sidewalk and the street.
 
Private security companies responsible for monitoring and issuing penalty notices on private property will also resume enforcement of the Park on Private Property offence, in addition to continuing to enforce accessible parking violations and fire route enforcement.

Use of parks
While City parks are now open, residents are reminded that under Stage 2, all playgrounds and play equipment, outdoor fitness equipment and drinking water systems remain closed to protect the health and safety of residents.

Physical distancing
As residents continue to get outside to enjoy the summer weather, the City reminds them of the importance of maintaining physical distancing. Everyone must maintain 2.0 metres distance from anyone outside of their social circle. Gatherings of more than ten people are prohibited under the EMCPA.

To report gatherings of more than ten people or a business not complying with physical distancing measures, residents are asked to call 311.
