Residents are invited to connect, get involved and help build safer, stronger neighbourhoods throughout November

BRAMPTON, ON (November 2, 2026) – November is Community Safety Month in Brampton, and the City is celebrating with a lineup of activities, including five free opportunities for residents to connect directly with City staff at locations across Brampton, a new volunteer program and resources to help build safer, more connected neighbourhoods.

Led by the City's Community Safety & Well-Being Office (CSWO), Community Safety Month encourages residents to stay connected and stand empowered by taking an active role in neighbourhood safety through community events, volunteer opportunities and initiatives.

Community Safety Month also marks the fifth anniversary of the CSWO, established in 2021. The office leads the Council-approved Brampton’s Community Safety Action Plan (2022–2027), which focuses on safety, awareness and empowerment through proactive planning and collaboration. Using the Ontario Community Safety and Well-Being Planning Framework, the work of CSWO focuses on social development and prevention, while also working with community partners to mitigate situations of elevated risk and respond to incidents.

Connect with City staff at Community Safety Pop-ups

Throughout November, City staff will be at several locations providing residents with opportunities to learn about local safety initiatives and access practical crime prevention tips and community resources. About Brampton’s Community Safety Action Plan

Brampton’s Community Safety Action Plan (2022–2027) sets out 24 tactics to build a city where everyone feels safe, connected and supported. Focused on prevention and addressing root causes, the plan is organized around three core areas; safety, awareness and empowerment. Developed through extensive community engagement, it reflects input from town halls, resident meetings, advisory sessions and surveys with more than 1,800 residents. Led by the CSWO, the plan is continually monitored and aligns with provincial and regional priorities to remain responsive to community needs and strengthen Brampton’s commitment to a safer, more connected city. Work is currently underway to develop the next iteration of the plan and residents can provide their input by taking the Community Safety and Well-Being Survey at brampton.ca/communitysafetysurvey. The survey is also available in Punjabi.
